Download the Privacy and Electronic Communications complaint form which you will find near the bottom of the ICO page that you posted a link to.

Send it to:
First Contact Team
Information Commissioner's Office
Wycliffe House
Water Lane
Wilmslow
SK9 5AF.

Or call the ICO and talk to one of their very helpful staff. explain that not only have you had this call on your TPS registered number, but it seems that your data is being sold by this broker for uses that you have clearly indicated you will not permit (telemarketing)

How do you get the ICO to make a "decision" on a company?

This page seems to indicate that they want telemarketing calls to go to the TPS and it's not clear what route to take to report a "lead" selling company like Sellers Griffin:

They claimed that their call was not illegal because they had bought my number from a company called "Sellers Griffin". No idea why they think that legalises it.

Sellers Griffin

That company seems reluctant to have any contact with the outside world. No easy to find phone number, E-mail address or web site. Perhaps they realised people don't like having their personal phone numbers sold to telemarketeers?

The owners of Sellers griffin are Will King and Jamie Cordingley:

Note that I would avoid using any company who decides to promote their business using illegal cold calling. Avoid Pension Review Line.

Have you reported this call to the ICO? I have had a couple of companies claim that calls to my TPS registered numbers were not illegal.. a view not shared by the ICO in subsequent decisions.

I would be tempted to test their assertions about the legality of the calls, along with the data handling practices of the data farmers they are buying nuisance lists from. The ICO is there for just this sort of thing.

Sellers Griffin is run by Will King and Jamie Cordingley:

http://www.linkedin.com/pub/jamie-cordingley/36/473/107
http://www.linkedin.com/pub/will-king/10/2aa/83b

Will King has registered the sellersgriffin.co.uk domain, but there is no web page there yet. The domain registration details are here:

http://network-tools.com/default.asp?prog=whois&host=sellersgriffin.co.uk

It also turns out that William John King and Jamie Richard Cordingley were directors of a company called Zengo a few years ago, along with a chap called Yannis Alexandros Loucopoulos:

http://www.creditgate.com/companysearch/zengo+limited.aspx

The interesting bit is that Mr Loucopoulos is also a directory of Pension Review Line:

http://www.duedil.com/company/07950588/pension-review-line-limited

A twist to this is that about a day before the cold call I got an illegal junk SMS saying "URGENT: We have been trying to contact you regards your recent accident; you could be due up to 1,500 in compensation. Reply CLAIM for info, STOP to opt out.". I replied "CLAIM" in order to find out who the company was who was sending me the spam texts.

I thought the two incidents were unrelated but I'm finding other reports of people doing the same thing, and also getting cold calls from Pension Review Line within 24 hours. It looks like Sellers Griffin send out PPI and accident claim junk SMS then sell the "leads" to Pension Review Line who then cold call them. I have written confirmation that Sellers Griffin sent me earlier illegal SMS message about a PPI claim:

If that wasn't enough, Jamie Cordingle's LinkedIn page says this:

Quote:
Sellers Griffin Ltd
September 2011 Present (8 months) Manchester, United Kingdom
Lead Generation, Lead Brokering and Bulk SMS broadcasting

If you have any information to add about Sellers Griffin then let me know at sapient @ wacky.zzn.com

I did also get an phone call about the accident claim as well. See here for that story:

I had a call at home last night from these people (despite being registered with TPS for 10 years).
I was extremely angry when I realised it was a sales call (sorry, survey ) because they asked for me by my first name. Anyway, within seconds the speel was being given and as I attempted to interrupt and was taken no notice of, I realised I had been connected to a recording. After the third time I said something, the caller came back on the line and asked me to repeat what I'd said. So I did - managing not to add any swear words. I pointed out that being registered with the TPS meant we didn't receive unsolicited phone calls and did she understand that, to which she said we'd be added to their 'do not call' list. As far as I'm concerned I should never have been on their list in the first place.
I've complained via TPS/ICO but wondered if anyone else had come across them. The information coming up on Google suggests this isn't just about the entertainment industry but has an underlying 'Christian' message to deliver. I'm glad they didn't get that far because no doubt I would have sworn at them then!

Our office was plagued by a company called Link with just this marketing technique. For years we rejected every sales call, then unfortunately one person stupidly said we needed two boxes. They faxed through their confirmation - for two boxes of labels which were over twice the price we normally pay with a 15 delivery charge added!
Fortunately I saw it and we cancelled the order immediately. The next time they called I told them we had not and would not ever be ordering from them and they attempted to say we had placed an order. I referred them to the fact that it had been immediately cancelled and put the phone down.
After that I went looking for how to complain. What you need to do is write to the company, inform them that unsolicited phone calls to companies are just as illegal as those to residential customers, and that unless your details are removed from their database you will inform the Information Commissioner who has the ability to fine their business. 4 years on, we haven't had a call since.

Mailing Matters Solutions     Post a reply to this message

This company rings every 6 months (everybody there is called Maria) and say - hello we won't be ringing again until May/June how many boxes of franking labels would you like? They have been continually told that we have never ordered from them, will never order from them, but still they ring. On asking for the name of a Director/Manager to complain to and an address, I was given a false address and postcode. They emamate from Liverpool and are extremely persistent - they have been ringing us for 6-7 years without a single order, simply beause we have had the same staff for that length of time. However, in a larger company with a bigger turnover of staff, they might be more successful.

when i call them now they hang up straight away- they must have figured out a way to tell between the sad people their computer picks up and my withheld number calls - but they have to answer it to get me out of their queue so its making their lines busy at any rate - lets shut these people down now.

Get your own back on a call centre - this is your chance     Post a reply to this message

So the other day i was at home enjoying life, and the phone rang - a recorded message said 'You've won a cash prize or a holiday'. I always like to get the phone number to report them to ICSTIS so i pressed 0 to talk to a real person. But the call centre was busy, so it told me to call back later on this number: 0011441782743053.

Bingo... I have the landline number for one of those annoying call centres - when you call they say you have won a prize and do you have a pen.

The number to call is 01782 743053 - they are based in Stoke-on-Trent, i particularly like calling and when they say 'Have you got a pen to take down the number?' i say 'Dont people in Stoke on Trent have anything better to do?' and they say 'How do you know im in Stoke on Trent'...

What i think is if enough people call them and annoy them, it will stop innocent people who believe they will get a holiday or cash by calling the premium rate number they give out as they wont get through to get the number - and the staff might get so annoyed that they could give in, or it could severely dent profits of the company.

Please call them and tell them they shouldnt con innocent people:

01782 743053

Unsolicited calls - leave them to your computer!     Post a reply to this message

Someone in America has invented a device to deal with unsolicited callers. It holds a "virtual conversation" with them by listening for silences and playing sound files in response to the caller. Best of all, it records the conversation for future amusement.

The details and several sound files of recordings made by the device can be found here:

http://www.pagerealm.com/tc2k/

Take a listen - some of them are really funny! I love this idea. If this sort of thing became commonplace, unsolicited calls would soon become a thing of the past.

Get yourself put on the Telephone Preference service, you can do this on the net, it might not stop them all, but when you say you are a member the caller hangs up immediately.
