I recently had a weekend away in Barcelona and it was a surprise from my partner as it was our one year anniversary. I was extremely excited and I knew he had paid a lot for this weekend away. However it was ultimately RUINED by the unhelpful and unfriendly staff at Aerlingus. Firstly our flight was delayed by 2 hours which I didnt mind but then when we finally did board we took off only for the captain to annouce while we were in the air thet there was a problem with the cargo door and we would have to return to Dublin. They proceeded to try and fix the door while leaving us sitting on the freezing plane. After what must have been two to three hours they announced that the door couldnt be fixed and that we would have to reboard another aircraft. So in all the flight was delayed by up to 6 hours and in that time we were given a mere 8 euro meal voucher for aboard the flight. So for ruining a romantic weekend away we got a voucher that we had to use to buy our food on the plane itself. A full day was lost and we had been up since 2 oclock that morning. I will never fly with aer lingus again and would advise anyone who asks me against it.
