Out of about 40-50 pupils he has only had 5 tests in 13 months and he certainly likes to drag everything out. But this instructor didn't even let me do any manouvres until about month 5 and then it would be about 1 manouvre every 3 weeks. I told him I wanted to take my test as soon as possible last september (2005) and he said to get my theory test out of the way and then he would get things sorted for me. It is now February and this has not happened. He just avoided the issue like he did with sorting my theory test out. I know I can not name him or give his address for legal reasons but if you live in the bloxwich/walsall area then beware because this instructor will drag it out beyond belief if he can. He is from Bloxwich. It's a shame because we got on but I am not going to pay 22 a lesson for the privelage of having a joke and not being taught properly. Sorry for ranting but beware. Any instructor who tells you that you are not a natural driver to begin with is a very silly instructor because none of us are natural drivers to begin with. Thank you. |
Don't label all instructors from a large school like the AA all the same, make it plain you are talking about one person not the school, as you are hurting other self employed people who are not all like your driving instructor. Why not grumble to the AA direct and give his name? you will only hurt him then, not the rest of us trying to earn a bean.

I worked for the AA Driving School for nearly 7 years. For the first five years or so I found them a very good driving school to work for. However, when the AA got bought out IN ABOUT 2003 & there was a complete change of attitude by the management towards the instructors. All they wanted was to extract every penny they could from me. They also encouraged other instructors to 'snitch' on each other should they take any of the stickers off the cars or not use the roofboxes. Furthermore, during the last 2 years or so I was there, the AA only wanted to refund pupils if they could take it back from the instructors. Often pupils paid for blocks of lesons, then sometimes passed before taking all of the pre paids or moved away. The AA had their money, but did n't refund anything without a fuss. The amount of disputes I had with the AA over not paying me for lessons I had done or wrongly refunding pupils out of my money could fill a book! Now I've set up on my own & my blood presure has dropped!

Re: - The AA drivers teach by methods of yelling and try to

I didn't really have any problems with my AA driving instructor (although he did have a rather loud voice), but I HAVE had HUUUGGGEEE probs with the AA driving school itself. I had to cancel several (untaken) lessons for health reasons, so my instructor applied for a refund for me. I phoned up to confirm this. "No problem madam, cheque is in the post". I was told. This was in August. It's now mid October and I'm STILL waiting for my cheque for a few hundred pounds. I've phoned up several times to be told first that "a cheque has already been posted", then "I'll post a cheque out today", and then "accounts will sort you a cheque first thing in the morning." I'm a student with limited funds so really need this money. It's not good enough from a big company like the AA who I'm sure isn't scraping by on a loan. If anyone from the AA is reading this, please SEND ME MY MONEY!!!!

I have read your grumble about AA the driving school Instructors. Tjis may be your opinion about a particular instructor, but are you aware that every instructor is self employed and not employed by the AA. You should not tarnish other AA instructors just because you have a particular grumbe about 1 or 2 of them. There are alot of driving instructors out there off all types who will try and "rip you off" but the rest of them do provide a good value for money service. I personally an ex-traffic police officer have never yelled at anyone or ripped anyone off.

- The AA drivers teach by methods of yelling and try to rip students off by forcing them to buy more and more lessons. The complaints department doesnt handle this information too well either and your left feeling totally cheated.
