Why did the government recently refuse in parliament to investgate this case of obvious apparent fraud? ALL numbers for mass texting/calling are suppossed to be filtered through the TPS list, issued each month, and if they do not bother updating their systems, then they have to pay the price... and the fine is at least 3 figures, if not 4... so 10 numbers is a �10k fine or thereabouts... theyc all you 10 times (and you list the dates and times) they get a 10k fine... how long do you think they'll contnue?... though as these people seem to change their company name quite often, maybe they are simply avoiding the fines... and showing the regulator to be the spineless organisation the government wants just for the headlines, whilst allowing erosion of our privacy because the company generates taxes for them... I have never requested information, gave permission to send me offers, bought anything or otherwise dealt with this company before. Repeated requests to be removed from there list have been blatently ignored after the usual worthless apologies and promises. When I insisted on filing an official complaint I was, allegedly, put through to their Customer Service team. After 10 or 15 minutes of being put on hold the line got disconnected. This happened twice so it is obvious they have no intention whatsoever of stopping this frustrating and intrusive marketing method. If there is any way of taking legal action against this and similar companies I'd be delighted to learn about it. I already have to deal with junk mail through my letterbox (the Mail Preference Service is easily circumvented by using hand delivery, which increasingly is the preferred method of delivering marketing material to the home address), junk e-mail, unwanted automated "you've won a prize!" calls and I really do not need SMS spam on top of that. It is disruptive and annoying and if companies like Mobileupd8 are not stopped in their tracks then the risk of SMS being rendered useless as a method of communication is becoming very, very real.
