| Had two from this lot. not sure where they get their list from as its the only SMS spam I've had. Interestingly, the second SMS pretended to come from my own phone. Nice trick for people who weed out “unknown” numbers.

“URGENT! Your mobile No WON a �2,000 bonus caller prize on 02/06/03! This is the second attempt to reach YOU! Call 09066362207 ASAP! BOX 97N7QP, 150 ppm. “
I had had, in the past, similar texts but had erased them but this time I foolishly decided that it was worth calling as they said I was a definite winner. According to the 'message' I had won �1,500 pounds (not �2,000 as per the text). I had to answer a series of questions by pressing numbers (usually from 1 to 4); ie was I male or female; age group; was my phone on contract or pay as you go; who was my network with. It was then confirmed that I was indeed a winner (of �1,500) and should send a self addressed envelope with first class stamp and the following information my name, address, mobile no and make and model of my mobile to Suite 13, Prize Management Ltd, Horsley Road, Kingthorpe, Northampton NN2 6LJ. The end of the message said 'congratulations'. If there are any problems receiving your prize, please write to customer services at the address given. No phone number for customer services. I should receive my prize in 4-5 days.
But instead of receiving this 'prize', earlier this evening, I received the following text......
”URGENT! Your mobile was awarded a �1500 bonus caller prize on 27/06/03. Our FINAL attempt 2 contact U! Call 08714714002 B. I. Ltd - Suite 294, 20 St. Loyes Street, MK401ZL. “
Obviously a different company but the same scam.
Then last night the following arrived :
”You have been selected for a 3 plasma colour 42” wide screen tv or cash EQU �3000. Call now on 09069621301 po box 42 4ub 34xz T/C www.sonytv.info �1 per min”
So having gone on that website, Sony is spelt 'Sonny' and the cost of the call for the 42” tv is �1.50 per min. They quote an email address '[email protected]'.
We have traced this web address to Dulles in VA, USA. It was created on 24th June.
