Promotion Number: 83085 - i recieved 60 or more messages from this "andmore" company saying...- "thanks for signing up for andmore. This is a confirmation message to check this is a legitimate sign up. your confirmation PIN is ****."
These came through one straight after another for about an hour. speaking to friends they also reported exactly the same that day although they recieved 120 and 160 messages. i dont know who or what the company is and i certainly did not sign up or even enquire to anything ever. Am i gonna be charged for these 60 messages is my question/ concern.

Complaining directly to TMS will do little to stop them as they probably do little more than put the complaints in the bin.
I've submitted a complaint today to the Advertising Standards Agency about them (also linking to this page), the more people who do the same will add weight to the case.
go to www.asa.org.uk
Thx

myself and my wife have recieved three each so called SERVICE MESSAGES from TMS,
we have not retrieved the message and we wont but it concerns us that by using the term service message it implies its from your service provider,
What has the ICSTIS been doing as it appears this has been allowed to run for over a years from reading the posts here
I have emailed them using all the email addresses shown on this message board . asking them to stop sending unwanted spam to my mobile phones, I did not enclose my numbers as they should removed all numbers they dont have permission from.
They are in my mind spammers, how would they like it if thier email box was full of unwanted emails.

How on earth can Orange say they have not heard of these people or are not on their files? I've phoned them up three times to complain about this lot. I'm sure there are many more of us who have complained about the same people to them. I just get the feeling they don't want to deal with it. Good luck if you have to go to court. Print this thread and show it as evidence

My message had no return address to send STOP and when I entered the http address on my computer it warned me it would be a file download! This of course I did not do. |
I tried this with Orange they told me it was not on their files and there as nothing they could or would do. I insisted that i would not pay and they told me my phone would be cut off. I just received an unsolicited 'service message'. Title: Ringtone. Address: http://tms.widelive.com/index.wml?id=70c9e0456e82c4_95748&first=true Created: 18:12:20 23/06/05. I did not request this service, nor have I provided my number for any such offers.
Unlike mary.chesn, I found Orange to be completely hopeless. The woman I spoke to had no idea what I was talking about. When I gave her the widelive address, she said 'is that like the internet, or something'. After much explanation, she asked her line manager and told me that they had never heard of it either. They offered no suggestions at all about how to prevent this type of thing from occuring again. Grrr.

Looking at their website also provides further evidence they are the same company.
quoted from their 'company overview'
The next stage of developments saw TMS reposition as a mobile application service provider. The company built the WiDE platform in 2003, allowing mobile content to be delivered to 96 countries - including premium sms billing in Europe and Australasia, and direct connections to the US networks. This platform is an end-to-end fulfilment solution, providing content management, billing, delivery, and CRM data management. TMS now provides website and print-media presentation of content and WiDE service provision to partners such as MTV Europe, Real Networks, Celador, and NewsCorp.

I received a text message from widelive on 5.6.05 informing me of a ringtone. I did not ask for this and I do not want it. My phone number is not listed in any directory and I subscribe to the TPS. I would like to ask if anyone knows how to contact these people-by telephone (landline), postal or email as I do not want my phone number given out to any associated or affiliate companies that may send me reverse charge text messages.

What really annoys me about these texts and Setvice Texts, that I have not asked for, is that when I am abroad, say in Italy on holiday, I have to pay a massive cost for the international service to deliver this text to me. I am with Orange, and I can't see a way I can stop marketing messages

TMS.WIDELIVE.COM - WHAT TO DO NEXT !!!!!!!!!!!!!
|
|
|
03 /June/ 2005: Just found this site. Today I received a message from tms.widelive.com informing of a ringtone download. I have also registered with the TPS and assumed that prospective reverse charge SMS companies screened potential client numbers against this database - obviously not! I have received an incredible amount of unsolicited reverse charge SMS over the past year - after I terminated my contract with Network provider '3' and went back to Voda. I always insist on no marketing when beginning a new contract and tick all the boxes and even write to the data protection managers of the network providers - even this does not stop unwanted reverse charge SMS, it still continues, hence this message I write this evening! it appears that no matter what you do, you cannot prevent this from happening. The office of Communications ICSTIS does not except that this act is unsolicited SMS, it seems that it does not even breach the 1998 Data Protection Act - so why do we have it??? ultimately the network providers receive money for these txt messages trafficking through their network, so they are not in a hurry to stop it! I recommend that each time you receive an unsolicited SMS, you MUST record all details of the sender, time, date, etc and then forward these details onto the Data Protection manager of your network and inform them you have not subscribed - you will get a refund!!! the more complaints they receive the more likely we are to put a stop to this nuisance.

This is not a con. Its simply a free-to-receive WAP message. If you click on the alert it will take you to Splash mobile's home WAP page. There you can browse and see if you want to subscribe to their service. I think there are contact details on this WAP page. If you want to opt out of future promotional messages, just give them a call.

Like many others today I have just received a text titled 'ringtone' which is from tms.widelive.com. tms are a company called the music solution, and have teamed up with all the major providers, and mobile phone manufacturers. I am very concerned that my mobile number can be targeted by firms that I have not heard of, and more importantly have I been charged for this 'service' that was not asked for and not wanted!
I will phone Vodafone first thing tomorrow and get them to stop this (well I'll try). This is my contract phone, and as such do not want a big bill.
In days past, giving a phone number to somebody never cost you money, but now it appears that you dont even have to give your phone number out to be targetted!
If anyone knows if this is a con, or how to stop this and other un-solicitored texts please reply to this.

Hi all. My aunt has recently been a victim of this or a similar scam. As a result I have sent an e-mail to the producers of tonight with Trevor MacDonald. I highly recommend that you all send and e-mail explaining your situation to them. With a greatervolume of e-mails I feel sure that they will investigate these companies and this will be a big step towards getting them to stop.
Here is a copy of the message which I have sent to the producers
<------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------->
Dear Sir or Madam
I am writting to you following and incident which has recently occured within my family. My aunt recently recieved a text message offereing her a ringtone service. As she did not wish to use this service she deleted the message. However the service still proceeded to subscribe her to thier service and she is now being charges 3 per month subscription and 1.50 for each message that they send to her. She has attempted to contact the service to get them to stop. She has sent the usual STOP message which should terminate the service however despite this the service is still active. She has also contacted her mobile phone provider to see what help they can offer. In short they are unable to do anything. There are many others in a similar situation, so much so that websites have been set up.
I beleive that with the help of your programme it will be possible to get these services to stop what is quite clearly an immorale act which is practicaly theft. There are many people who are loosing a lot of money through these services including young children who own mobile phones. I'm sure that you agree this practice cannot be allowed to continue.
For more information on this problem and the people affected by it there is an on-line forum at http://www.grumbletext.co.uk/. Please visit this site and read the posts of the people affected.
I look forward to hearing a reply
Yours faithfully
John Chapman
<------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------->
The address for the producers is
Please write them an e-mail. The more voices that are heard the more likely they will respond.
I hope that this helps you all
Yours faithfully
John Chapman

I got one of these messages last night but I deleted it without retrieving it, does that mean I'm safe? The address is very sneaky because I am on T-mobile and at first wondered if "tms" stood for T-mobile Services and was therefore legitimate.

Guys reading through some of these and I work within the industry - I am not defending some of the practices going on but it is important that the STOP command is understood it is simply STOP - I just answered a PM from someone who was having trouble he had sent S.T.O.P. and putting those full stops in had meant the command not being recognised. Looking at some of these other posts it looks like one of you has sent TEXT STOP that would not be recognised. These systems are automated there is nobody at the other end with a phone reading the texts. So here endeth the lesson the word is STOP.

andmore texts - completely unsolicited
|
|
|
Promotion Number: 83085 - andmore Member your passcode will follow in the next message, please keep it safe & visit andmore.net to send your 500Text Messages EVERY Month! Sender: 83085
Followed by another text with password details. Each text costs 1.27 and I have been receiving the same 2 messages every month for the last 7 months.
I have complained to O2 who said that they cannot do anything - they suggested that I send TEXT STOP reply to the 83085 number which did not work. I have just tried it again but not holding out too much hope.
O2 also gave me the customer services number - 08712402041- which surprise, surprise, just turns out to be on permanent voicemail and no joy at all with this. O2 wash their hands of the whole situation and claim it is purely down to the provider. I asked if I can bar premium rate messages completely as I don't use them, but they say no - the only way to do anything is to change my number which I don't want to do as I use it to run my business.
I am furious that someone can legally send me completely unsolicited text messages and charge me for them in what is supposed to be a civilised country with consumer protection. I have not even replied to any offer which might make me subject to this scam. It's time that someone - the service providers, regulatory bodies or the government through legislation - did something to stop this daylight robbery. HELP!!

Promotion Number: 83085 - my wife who was diagnosed with breast cancer 10 months ago and has undergone major surgery which has devastated our whole family as we have been to hell and back, is now burdened by the fact andmore is stealing money from her mobile phone. my wife has never asked andmore to contact her or has ever replyed to their texts, except for the last message she got, giving her info about a password and deducting 1.50 from her account. she replyed STOP and may i say this was on the advice of 02. about
6 hours later after sending STOP she recived another text from ANDMORE and 1.50
from her account. that is 3 within 6hrs. this has been going on for some time now but it
is just lately that we have found were her money is disappearing to.
may i also say that on contacting 02 i was giving the phone No of ANDMORE which is
08456589828
i phoned constantly for 3days was either engaged or just kept ringing. i suspect this is a phone sitting in a empty room. finally i would just like to add that 02 should take more responsibility and that ANDMORE are the lowest form of life ,and it is beyond me how these people can sleep sound in their beds at night.

Promotion Number: 83085 - SMS Span (General)
I have received several 1.50 text messages from andmore.com. After texting stop, which it didn't!, i spoke to someone who promised that the texts would stop, i would be taken off the database and I would receive a postal order for the money taken off my credit - yeah right!
After the same thing happening for several months I rang o2 and they said they would do something from their end to stop the spam - so far so good!
When I spoke to O2, they said that even if there was no credit on your phone, andmore.com would keep on sending spam until you next topped up and credit available.
Also (beginning to feel persecuted here ) I have been receiving voice messages on my land line from the dreaded Jeanette Newington and the other spammer from Bristol. Luckily I ddin't ring the premium rate number!
Has anyone contacted them via snail mail?
Has anyone
