Between June 2003 and December 2003 , we sent cash for two holidays to this company. Over the time known as WWV/ Lets Go/ PromoWorld. We have never received a holiday. After requesting our money back, we have heard today that the company is going into receivership. What else can we do? Can anyone help us get our money back?

I paid 198 to these people in August 2003 and have never had the holiday or my money back. Surely this guy's 'troubles' didn't start that long ago so what possible excuse can he have for ripping me off? I've e-mailed The Mirror today in the hope that they can get me my money back as they seem to be the only one's getting anywhere. I wish you all luck in getting yours.

i contacted the mirror though this website and they have contacted paul shipway his email address is [email protected] and he has replied, he will probably give you speel about not having any money to pay us back at the moment but hey, he obviously enjoyed his 100k a year pay packet (accorinding to the mirror) with our money.
i have download the county court papers which i would be more than happy to pass on to you if so wish, as if i do not get a reasonable date for when my money should turn up that is exactly where i shall be going. Not one person who has taken them to county court has failed so obviously they are entirely in the wrong.
If you need any further information please let me know.
Kind regards.

It seems from what I read, that I am yet another victim to the scam. I have been awaiting holiday dates from Worldwide Vacations for some time now, I have sent my money, and when speaking to one of the WWV operators this morning, I figure I am never going to get what I have paid for!
Can any body assist with names etc of people that may be able to help me get my money back.
Thanks

Hi
Like all the others, they also told me this as well and a year later, no holiday, no money.
Please do not send these people and money and i would recommend that you now start trying to get a refund on your 220.

Like most people we started dealing with Worldwide Vactions,,, then lets-go and now we get a letter from Promo World Travel.
The offer letter from Promo World Travel is for a holiday at the beginning of May, one of our selected dates. This is after the original holiday presentation in March 2003!!!
Like most people we paid a registration fee, preferred airport (Gatwick), airport tax/secuity .... total 220 for two people......all for a free holiday.
We are now about to return the forms and hope that we get tickets and a holiday... but reading all of the postings it looks doubtful. However I will post again once/if we go and the condidtions of the self catering resort in Malaga.

Hi
i recently emailed Mr Shipley regarding my refund, which he replied there were no more monies avaliable and he would let me know when they would become avaliable, the company owes me around 500, this included change of airport, change of name and various other monies that should have been returned straight away.
When speaking with the staff they were rude and i was basically told "there is not much i can do for you, if you receive your money then you receive it you will just have to wait" i think it is an outrage!
I have sent an email to Mr Shipway explaining that i will go to the county courts regarding this but having read your email you seem to have got further than anyone else.
Please could you help me.

Re "Re: WORLDWIDE VACATIONS (UK) Limited, BATH also WWV.com Ltd
WWV.com Ltd aka Worldwide Vacations (UK) Ltd
From The Daily Mirror Penman & Greenwood Investigate March 24 2005
OUR 8K PAY-DAY WIN FROM HOL BOSS
WE'VE won back almost 8,000 of Daily Mirror readers' money after collaring the boss of a troubled holiday firm - and there's more on the way.
Paul Shipway, director of Worldwide Vacations (UK), met us to hand over a stack of cheques after we were swamped with complaints about his company.
In February we told how Harold Noon "won" a holiday from a scratchcard.
It turned out to be a costly prize because Harold and his wife, from Felixstowe, Suffolk, had to pay 198 to Bath-based Worldwide to claim the trip.
When Harold said he wanted to fly from Gatwick, rather than Manchester he was told there would be more charges.
Disgusted, he cancelled but spent an age vainly chasing a refund until we stepped in. Harold's story opened the floodgates.
Sandra McGonagle of Cleator Moor, Cumbria, was owed 1,259; Shirley Nuttall of Preston, Lancs, 417, and Pete and Kath Elmy, of Doncaster, 364.
They and 14 others now have refunds.
Shirley Nuttall said: "Thank you, Daily Mirror. It's reassuring to know someone cares in this day and age."
Worldwide made money by fixing cheap holidays with a carefully-worded deal.
Discount vouchers were sold to promotional firms which offered them as gifts or prizes, but there were charges and tough restrictions on when and where "winners" could travel.
Shipway said: "Over five-and-a-half years 190,000 people have had holidays with us at a massively-reduced rate."
He was raking in 100,000 a year but the company hit trouble in 2003 when another business, which owed it money, went bust. Since then Shipway and fellow director Nevil Hart have been winding down the company while paying off some debts with profits from their other brands, En-Fused and Promo World Travel.
They were advised to put Worldwide into liquidation, but that would have left customers high and dry.
Shipway said: "I believe we have to take responsibility and that is what we are doing.
"We had a choice of shutting the business down, but it is about being able to sleep at night and I want to keep my reputation intact.
"We have clients who are due money and that is something we are trying to rectify. I'm just asking people to be patient."
Many chasing refunds find the original phone number for Worldwide, later renamed WWV.Com Ltd, has gone dead.
No wonder, then, that the firm has been sued 22 times in the county courts in the past year.
Of the cheques Shipway gave us, five have already cleared and the remainder are post-dated - he says we'll have to give him time to get the money together.
Of course we'll let you know when they all clear - and woe betide him if any bounce.
If you're owed money by this lot, drop us a line, including your full name, address and phone number.
We'll be on the case with Mr Shipway. You never know - he might even sell his Rolex to pay you back.

WORLDWIDE VACATION (UK) Limited, BATH - Daily Mirror report

|
The Daily Mirror Feb 24, 2005
Penman & Greenwood Investigates:
HOL LOT OF GRIEF
By Andrew Penman and Michael Greenwwod
[email protected]
www.mirror.co.uk/investigate
DELIGHTED Harold Noon won a "holiday voucher" in a scratchcard competition two years ago.
The prize turned out to be costly as Harold and his wife, from Suffolk, had to pay 198 to Bath outfit Worldwide Vacation (UK) Limited to claim the trip.
More charges came later so Harold cancelled and has been chasing a refund since.
Turning to us for help, we tackled Worldwide's boss Paul Shipway who has now sent the money saying: "We complied with terms and conditions."
Worldwide changed its name to WWV.com last year - we are not surprised to see its accounts are almost four months overdue at Companies House.

I too have been conned by WWv of Bath.
I was told I had one a holiday in Feb last year and paid the substantial extras for a friend to travel with me, I chose a suitable date from their offers and recieved a letter to say it would be delayed, I specifically then chose a date in week 50 as a birthday treat. and no response. I telephoned the Co. and a member of their staff was extremely rude to me. I wrote a letter of complaint regarding this matter which was ignored. I again phoned and this time the call was even more offensive. Will I get my monies for extras returned to me...........Irene Mc C

ok there REALLY is a cruise
spammers can buy cruises in bulk (500) at a time for ONE POUND EACH!!!!!
they then send (sometimes) a cruise voucher which you have to take to lets go and pay their admin fee (normally 39.95+vat) THEN you will get flights and cruise for ONE WEEK for one person.
BUT
The cruise can be anytime in the next 18 MONTHS and you may only get SEVEN DAYS notice, AND if you want to take someone it iwll cost approx 500!!!
If you actually get the voucher, it IS a cheap cruise on good ships, but you have to be very flexible!

Hi Roy
We too were promised a "free promotional" holiday by Worldwide Vacations, Bath, booked for February this year and had to pay for various "extras", and were subsequently told that the holiday had to be postponed. We had previously had to provide them with two other provisional dates and we weren't contacted to book for either of these. We haven't received any information from them since. I would appreciate any information you can provide to help us get our money back.
Thanks

Well, we were promised a "free" WWV holiday about 2 years ago when we attended a timeshare seminar. The booking went ahead and free turned out to be not free, but a good price for a cheap and cheerfull holiday so we paid. My father-in-law died and we asked to reschedule and they agreed. I received the tickets in the post today - the Tenerife Hotel has confirmed by phone that they are expecting us. Gina, who has been very friendly and polite and worked at the company through the 2 years and 3 name changes that we have been dealing with them, is FAXing our car hire details as I type this message. All in all, it looks like we're having our holiday, albeit with 2 days notice. I'll let you know how it turns out.

Re "Re: WORLDWIDE VACATIONS, BATH" posted by jbreez at 12:11 15/10/04 ...
I have an inside track on the World Wide Vacations / Lets go (Bath) situation.
1. Neither of these companies are involved in SMS, scratch cards, recorded message promotions or competitions. They simply handle the calls and bookings for the holidays offered on the various vouchers.
2. It is up to the companies who run the various promotions to ensure that they comply with all the various regulations whether they are giving away rewards of cash, cars, holidays of dvd players. holiday / cruise vouchers are simply one of the many prizes offered. So don't confuse the companies.
3. If you have an issue with a particular promotion using a premium rate number you should talk to ICSTIS who are the governing body for these services and can stop and fine wrong doers.
4. WWV are currently in insolvency. This was primarily caused by one of their largest clients going bust owing them over 200,000. They have attempted to trade out of this situation but have been advised to put the business into insolvency. However, they want to return all monies paid to WWV for holidays to the customers and have written to all of them explaining the situation and asking them to be patient. The number of people still owed a refund is small and getting smaller month by month.
They don't have to refund any money but want to try to do the 'right thing'.
5. Lets Go (Bath) Ltd is a separate company that took over the holiday bookings from WWV when it got into difficulties early in 2004. Although the company name was cleared by Companies House, some confusion has arisen with another company called Lets Go and so Lets Go (Bath) agreed to change their name to Promo World Travel to avoid the confusion.
6. Many thousands of people have been sent on holiday using the holiday and cruise vouchers, which are approved by the OFT. If you receive one, please insure that you read all of the terms and conditions of the voucher so that you understand exactly what you have been awarded.
Hopefully the above will clear up some of the concerns / rumours expressed on this board.

Very true Adrian.
Unfortunately many people are taken in by these calls and subsequently lose money. It is a telecom criminal activity that is growing and the telecoms industry is not doing much about it.
It's through sites like yours that people can be warned and you do provide a valuable service, however, some people will not take any notice until they have been ripped off.
How many people do not complain and just accept their loss??

Tell you what Bob, the TPS is a complete waste of space for this stuff whether foreign or not. TPS only works where you have legit companies who are interested in taking any notice of it - the various fraudsters who are talked about on Grumbletext completely ignore it, as the TPS has no practical enforcement abilities.

I'd be very careful about sending off any more mony to Let's Go (Bath). The rumour on the holidayscam sites is that they are in insolvency. http://www.crimeshare.net/70.html
There is NO PRIZE! NO FREE HOLIDAY from these phone calls. If you have to send money HOW CAN IT BE FREE???
I recieve on average three calls a week telling me that I have won free holidays, cruises, TVs. All of them come from abroad and all of them are scams. They are scam merchants, their only intention is to deprive you of your hard earned cash.
By the way, I am registered with the TPS but it doesn't work for foreign calls.

I received several calls assuring me I had won a Major prize and should ring a premium rate number in Kilmarnock to claim my prize. This I did and was then told to input information at the end of the message to determine which prize had been alloted to me. I sent the requested SAE letter and the prize code but before the end of the "qualifying claim period" I again had a pre-recorded call from the prize manager asking me to recontact that premium call number.
Fool that I am I did it and got exactly the same information.I sent me second SAE by RMSD with a covering letter the I suspected this was a spam! I received my "7 Day Mediterranean Cruise Voucher" Number 01702 dated 21 August 2004. This required me to send the voucher with 39 administration fee within 14 days. This was done on 23 August and the cheque cashed within 2 weeks as shown on my statement. A total of 29.65.
TODAY I have received a duplicate & Day Mediterranean Cruise Voucher with a different number. This is in the first envelop I sent prior to my letter as it being a spam.
I have had NO receipt for the Monday or any other communications from Lets-Go. Total expenditure so far is 29.65 + 35 = 64.95 for the pleasure of dealing with them.
Anyone who gets this kind of offer should proceed with care! I only took the chance because I read on this site that some people HAD actually got a holiday. I will let readers know if I ever get one.

I am due to be refunded by this company as they couldn't find the holiday they offered. I spoke to someone at their offices on 25/08/04 and was told they would request the cheque and it would take up to 28 days. I are still waiting and I can no longer get an answer on the phone or via e-mail. I am now sending a letter to their Dunkaton address. I will be getting in touch with watchdog as well. I too urge anyone else who has dealings with the company to contact watchdog. Could ROY20 who managed to get their money back please e-mail me ([email protected])to give me some advise.

Hi
I would be grateful if you could email me some information as I have relatives who have also lost quite a bit of money and are trying to claim back.
I look forward to hearing from you.
Kind Regards
Clare

I have just successfully recovered monies from Worldwide Vacations through the County Courts. I have all the info needed and would be happy to pass on any help I can. Worldwide Vacations is now trading under the name of Lets Go - still based in Bath.

I didnt get an sms but i phoned up the number cause i got a scratch card in a newspaper. I gave them my credit card number for them to take 300euro for a 3 day cruise to spain for 6 people, 50 euro each. Now I find out from the newspaper this is a scam and I will never get the holiday and I owe my friends 250 I guess since I booked the thing. Could someone please email if they have gotten their money back from this company and let me know what I need to do. My credit card company said I need to wait 30 days before I can report it to their investigation department. Will I ever see this money again? Please contact me on [email protected] as soon as you can. Thank you.
